Meet the Lead – PROJECT ACADEMIA
Wouldn’t you like to know more about the tentatively titled PROJECT ACADEMIA? Well, here’s your first look at what to expect. A look at our protagonist – Mio.

Mio is the main character of PROJECT ACADEMIA. A quiet, overwhelmingly ordinary girl who’s always simply blended into the background. She gets slightly above average grades, helps out at her family’s bookstore after school and on weekends, and spends her free time reading manga or “doodling.” She prefers pencil and paper to her tablet, though, liking the feel of it more. Surprisingly, despite her subdued demeanor, Shounen Action and Magical Girl are her favorite genres.
This artwork – courtesy of the always fantastic MadiBlitz – was a real surprise, in terms of timing. I didn’t expect to get this for another few days, maybe even a week. But I got it today and I’m really happy with how it turned out, so I wanted to share it and tease a little about the character, while I was at it! There’s still going to be a little more time before I’m ready to start pumping out chapters of the story. But I think it’s going to be a really good one.
I am very curious to know what kind of character you think she’s going to wind up being, honestly. There’s a lot more to learn about Mio. Even for me. And I can’t wait to share more about her and her journey in the future.

Very cool! To me, Mio looks like that sleepy kind of girl who people mistake for being angry all the time. That’s how I read her face at least. I look forward to learning more about your project here as you make more progress 🙂

Mio’s scarf reminds me of the Kagerou Project for some reason…she also seems very boyish (or maybe I should read that differently and describe her as “practical”…?) and apathetic, just from her face – I can definitely see where you’re going with the latter, considering what you’ve mentioned in your blog posts as of late.

Interesting take. Yeah, it’s like I said. A lot of Mio’s character traits (though certainly nowhere near all) are in some way based on things I’ve been dealing with (if a bit inflated for the sake of dramatization).

The Kagerou Project (music/fictional universe) isn’t actually its name if we’re talking specifically about its anime incarnation. That would be Mekakucity Actors (and possibly Mekakucity Reload if we ever get that too).
