Discover Yourself
‘ello ‘ello. As promised, here’s a bit of an update on my latest solo project!
After posting the first chapter to this very site for you early readers, there’s still a lot to talk about. So here I am with some news on the publication plan for the project. Publishing location, upload schedule, the works. But first I’ll just address the elephant in the room.
Yep. There’s not really a whole lot on the subject. I went through a lot of names while trying to come up with something for this. Originally I settled on the Extracurricular title because, hey, it fit. The nature of the story meant that school played a significant role. After all, I never lied about the story being a chronicle of Mio’s high school life… to an extent. But I eventually hit on the idea of EXTRA/NORMAL because it was a bit more multifaceted. As those of you who’ve read up have come to discover, the series revolves around the concept of Espers – people with extrasensory abilities. Mio is regarded as so overwhelmingly normal she’s easily forgotten. Thus she is extra-normal. On top of this, extranormal is an actual word meaning… well… “outside or beyond what is normal.” In short, it’s essentially a synonym for supernatural. Another reference to the abilities represented by the characters. There are a few other things as well, which you’ll become privy to as the story progresses.
As to the reason I didn’t reveal this as soon as I decided on the change… eh. To troll you. I thought it’d be cute. Especially since the Extracurricular title in no way implied that anything out of the norm was ever going to happen while EXTRA/NORMAL could be construed that way. Based on what’s been said so far, the little cliffhanger at the end resonated. So having that extra oomf to the surprise was something I wanted to test out. It was a fun experiment, basically. Now. On to the important information.
The most obvious and important question is about location. And I have a simple answer for that. I will be continuing to post the chapters here, for anyone who would prefer to absorb the story on this platform. I can’t promise I’ll do so forever, though. The reason for this, however, is that we’re still working on a website that will exclusively host our original content. And no, that one will not be powered by WordPress. With that having been said, WordPress is not designed for the consumption of long-form fiction. I’ve been exploring some avenues and I’ve decided that I will, in fact, be uploading this project to Honeyfeed.fm and WebNovel.com. When that happens, I’ll make another update post to share it, including links to the story on both platforms.
This is where things are going to get tricky. As I’ve said, EXTRA/NORMAL is not my top priority. Burning Sky is, followed by Bulletoon. So while I’ll certainly be aiming for weekly uploads, I cannot promise it’ll always happen. With that being said, I’m going to shoot for a new upload every Friday, likely some time in the evening (EST). Something I’m going to try, however, is an arc-based approach. So I’ll steadily upload chapters until the present arc of the story is complete. Then I’ll take a little bit of a break (probably just a week) and resume with uploads of the next arc. The arcs I’ve planned out, so far, have mostly been fairly short. So we’ll see how that works out. Either way, I’m looking forward to writing and posting more.
And that’s it for now! As stated, I’ll be posting the first chapter to Honeyfeed.fm and WebNovel.com on Friday, accompanied by a video promo. I’d very much appreciate it if you guys would share those around as soon as they go live. The support means a lot. In the meantime, thanks for reading.
